Whether you’re new to raw feeding or have been feeding raw for years, it’s natural to have questions.

We’ve answered some of the most common questions we receive about raw cat food, transitioning cats to raw, feeding amounts, storage and feline nutrition.

What is raw cat food?

Raw cat food is a minimally processed diet made from meat, organs and other carefully selected ingredients designed to provide complete and balanced nutrition for cats.

Is Purraw raw cat food complete and balanced?

Yes. Purraw recipes are formulated to provide complete and balanced nutrition, ensuring your cat receives the essential nutrients they need to thrive.

Can kittens eat raw food?

Yes. Kittens can thrive on a complete and balanced raw diet that supports healthy growth and development.

Is raw feeding suitable for all cats?

Most healthy cats can enjoy a raw diet. If your cat has a medical condition, we recommend discussing any dietary changes with your veterinary professional.

How should I store raw cat food?

Keep raw cat food frozen until you’re ready to use it. Defrost in the refrigerator.

How long does raw cat food last once thawed?

Once thawed, raw cat food should typically be used within 3 days when stored in the refrigerator. Always follow the storage instructions provided on the packaging.

Can I refreeze raw cat food?

Yes, if your order arrives slightly thawed, as long as the items are still cold the products can be refrozen. 

If any items arrive warm please disregard and contact us.

Can raw cat food be served straight from the freezer?

No. Raw food should be fully thawed before feeding. Many cats also prefer their food served at room temperature rather than directly from the fridge.

Is handling raw cat food safe?

Yes. Simply follow the same hygiene standards you would use when handling raw meat for human consumption. Wash your hands, clean preparation surfaces and store food correctly.

Testing / Safety

We use human grade meat in all our raw minces, Samples are regularly sent to accredited labs specifically to test for salmonella.

Do you deliver outside the UK? 

Unfortunately, we can not deliver outside the uk due to our items being perishable. 

Delivery Information 

All our raw cat food is frozen, we send on a next day service with DPD 24 hour service, in insulated wool packaging to keep our products frozen. 

You will received an email and /or text from DPD with tracking information. You do not have to be available to sign for the delivery but you can use the DPD link to request the package to be left in a safe place.

Please do not change the delivery date via the DPD app or link. Our raw food is perishable and any change in date after despatch can result in good needing to be disposed off. 

Can I cook / heat Purraw cat food?

No, do no heat or microwave any of our Purraw cat food.

Our products contain bone and whilst uncooked bone is healthy and a natural ingredient, cooked bones can splinter causing danger to your cat. 

My cat stools are often strong smelling, will Purraw diet help with this?

Yes, because purraw is a natural diet consisting of meat, bone and oral it is highly digestible. Our customers notice usually within 48 hours their cats tools become smaller, harder, and nearly odourless.

Can Purraw help with my cat’s allergies?

Cats can develop allergies, usually found in commercially dry & wet food as they contain ingredients cats simply don't need such as grains, fillers & additives etc. Purraw is a natural food consisting of only meat, bone and offal replicating a cat’s natural diet. Therefore it is ideal for cats suffering with allergies. Rabbit is a great protein for cats suffering with allergies or intolerances.
